Fraser Island is the world’s largest sand Island and an area of enourmous natural beauty. The Island, mostly National Park, is managed by the Qld Parks & Wildlife Service. It was Heritage Listed in 1992. It is only accessible by 4 Wheel Drive, plane or foot. Vehicle & camping permits need to be purchased prior to visit (unless staying in private accommodation or with a tour group).

What to see on Fraser Island

Visit the townships of Eurong, Happy Valley, Dilli Village, Eli Creek, Orchid Beach, Waddy Point, Cathedral Beach, Kingfisher Bay and Dundubara. The lakes – Boomanjin, Benaroon, Birrabeen, Wabby, Garawongera, Coomboo, Allom, Bowaraddy and the Boomerangs. Eli Creek, the wreck of the Maheno, the Champagne Pools, the coloured sands, the sand blows, Central Station and the rainforests are all “must see’s”.
